India stopped testing for antibodies to the coronavirus
Indian authorities have temporarily prohibited States to use rapid tests for detection of antibodies to the coronavirus because of the unreliability of diagnostic systems, writes Reuters.
In India, as in many countries around the world, conducted widespread testing of the population to identify those infected with coronavirus. Still this was used to study the smears from the mucosa of the throat, but in the beginning of this month was approved by the test system, detects antibodies to coronavirus in blood samples. To do this, China had ordered more than 500 million test systems.
However, later the head of the epidemiological service of India has recommended to suspend the studies for antibodies due to inconsistent results. He noted that this is a new test system that was developed in only 3.5 months, so they need refinement and validation. The validation process will take some time, so the health authorities of the States, it was recommended to suspend the use of test systems for a couple of days.
