In the Netherlands, the coronavirus has infected mink, two farms isolated
The first identified infection with coronavirus in burrows, the animals were infected at two farms in the southern part of the Netherlands. About this 26 April, reported the Ministry of agriculture, nature and food quality of the country.
The mink is manifested in various symptoms, including breathing problems.
“As some of the members of both trusses were the symptoms of coronavirus, it is assumed that people had infected animals. Previous research showed that ferrets, and hence mink are sensitive to COVID-19”, – told the Agency.
Authorities banned the export of animals and their manure outside of the enterprises, the area was cordoned off. The Ministry encourages local residents to walk and ride the bike within a radius of 400 meters around the farms until the results of tests of samples of air and dust.
In infected animals, as well as employees taken the tests; this is important for understanding how spreading the disease in terms of cross-species infection. The possibility of transmission of coronavirus from mink to humans, based on existing knowledge, are excluded, said the agriculture Ministry.
Cases of coronavirus were found among Pets. In Hong Kong from their owners contracted two dogs, and in Belgium – cat. The first case of transmission from a man to a wild animal was in the zoo in new York in April: got sick of the Malay tiger.
