Golovinsky court of Moscow has sentenced American student Trevor Reid for nine years in a General regime colony for resisting a police officer during the arrest. On 30 July, reports “Russian service of BBC”.
28-year-old U.S. citizen Trevor Reid found guilty of using police violence dangerous for life and health (part 2 of article 318 of the Russian Criminal code). The maximum penalty for this offence is ten years imprisonment.
According to investigators, August 16, 2019, the police received the message that near the house in the North of Moscow man arguing with two women. Police arrived on the scene tried to calm the man, but he allegedly showed aggression and resisted them.
Then the police used force put the detainee in a police car and taken to the police. On the way there, the detainee attacked the driver, tearing him, and struck his companion on the road creating an emergency situation, say the investigators.
Already in the Department found out that the detainee – a native of Texas Trevor Reid. The next day after the detention, the court arrested him.
Sam reed said in court that he did not recognize his guilt. According to him, he doesn’t remember the incident because he was drunk. The Prosecutor asked him nine years and eight months in prison.
