In Greece, the car drove into a group of protesters

In the Greek city of Mytilene on the island of Lesbos on Tuesday evening, July 21, a car drove into a group of protesters against the arson attacks on the island of Lesbos, according to Greek newspaper Kathimerini.

The incident injured six people, two of them are in serious condition.

The accident occurred in the North exit in front of the plant Epano Skala. Driving the car was an elderly man. The accident occurred due to the fact that he has not coped with management.

Protesters gathered at 20.30 (coincides with the Kiev time). According to the newspaper, they were going to organize patrols to prevent the migrants from a refugee camp Moriah to organize arson on the island.

The immigration crisis at the border with Greece began in late February due to the decision of Turkey to open the border for refugees on the backdrop of the intensification of hostilities in Syria. On approval of the Turkish authorities, in early March, the EU ran almost 200 thousand migrants. The Greek authorities refer to these data misinformation.

Residents of the Greek island of Lesbos periodically protest against the influx of migrants. The situation on the island is heating up because of the location there of the refugee camp Moriah. In it live more than 30 thousand people.

The migrants are kept in often overcrowded island camps, fall into despair because of the conditions and slow processing of their applications for asylum. From time to time flashes of violence within camps and against authorities.
