The Parliament of Georgia on June 29 approved the constitutional amendments concerning the electoral system, the country will be less majoritarian, about it reported the website of the Parliament.

The parliamentary elections of 2020 in Georgia will be held under a mixed system: citizens will choose 120 deputies under the proportional system, and 30 on the majority. Party or electoral bloc that received less than 40% will not be able to form a parliamentary majority and the government.
The bill defines the boundaries of the 30 one-mandatory majority districts based on current administrative boundaries. After the amendments to the Constitution to participate in the elections of 2020, allowed the party that can present the signatures of at least 5 million voters.
The bill also provides that in the event of early elections in the period up to 2024, the country will operate a temporary electoral system established by this bill.
