Finally, it has happened. Fans of beach volleyball, although with a delay associated with the epidemic of coronavirus, were able to start their new season. In the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana hosted a stage of the World tour, which was attended by 23 men’s teams from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Norway, Slovenia, Serbia and Switzerland, as well as 25 women’s teams representing Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Slovenia and Switzerland.
At first there was held a qualifying game, then were fights in four groups, followed by the stage of the playoffs.
Women in the finals were two pairs from Denmark. Clara Vindelev and Line TRANS Hansen defeated Cecily the Kollner Olsen and Sofia Norget of Bisgaard with the score 2:0 (21:11, 21:10). In the match for third place of the Belgian Duo Sara Kools and Lisa van den vonder defeated the Latvian volleyball players to the barbarian of Braila and Annette the Dynamics 2:0 (21:14, 21:19).
In the men’s tournament main prize was won by the sportsmen from Italy Tiziano Andreatta and Andrea Abati that in the final match defeated the Austrians Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst 2:1 (21:18, 15:21, 15:11). Another duet from Austria’s Christoph Dressler and Alexander Huber defeated volleyball players from Slovenia to Tadeu the Bozhenko and mind Iacopino 2:1 (22:24, 21:10, 15:8).
The next European beach volleyball tournament should be held in Baden Austria in the period from 20 to 23 August.
