The international volleyball Federation (FIVB) has announced the adaptation of the qualification System for beach volleyball for deferred to 2021 the year of the Olympic games to be held in the Japanese capital Tokyo. After consultation with the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee was named such date.
A new period of Olympic qualification ranking extended until June 13, 2021 (instead of 14 June 2020) and the Olympic ranking will be published on 14 Jun 2021.
The deadline for qualification to the Continental Cup has been extended until June 27, 2021 (instead of 28 June 2020) and the final will take place in the week 21-27 June 2021.
The selection criteria remain the same, since the team requires participation in at least 12 tournaments in all stages of qualification. As before, the best 12 of the team’s results will count towards their Olympic ranking. The adaptation is based on the forecast of the future calendar of the World tour with a minimum number of 3-star, 4-star and 5-star tournaments scheduled until June 13, 2021.
We will remind that in the Olympic games of 2021 needs to participate in 24 male and female teams. Moreover, four places are already booked. So, men in Tokyo will speak Japanese team (the tournament host), Russia (world Champions), Italy and Latvia (winners of the qualifying tournament in 2019). Women at the Olympics will play Japan (the tournament hosts), Canada (world Champions), Spain and Latvia (the winners of the qualifying tournament in 2019).
