In Bashkiria acquitted the police, convicted for raping colleague
The Supreme court of Bashkiria June 3, overturned the conviction of two former chiefs of regional departments of police Salavat Galieva and Eduard Matveyev, who served time for gang rape – colleagues poznavatelnoe Gulnaz Fathollahi. The defendants were released in the courtroom, told “Kommersant”.
The victim is the daughter of Deputy Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Irek Sagitova.
Kirovsky district court of Ufa in December 2019 appointed Galieva and Matveev seven years of imprisonment in a General regime colony. The prosecution was also brought against the former head of the Department for migration at the Ufa region Pavel Yaremchuk, who was sentenced to six years in prison.
The Supreme court reversed and sentence Yaremchuka, but not acquitted him and reduced the term of imprisonment from six to four years, softening the article of the charge with the group for just rape.
The lawyer of the victim Irina Valieva said that it intends to appeal the sentence in cassation. According to her, Fathollahi “there was no amnesia or loss of memory, this stuff did three.”
The incident occurred in the fall of 2018. According to investigators, officers were lured into a Cabinet colleague under the pretext of work, and then began to drink her alcohol. During the investigation all persons involved in the criminal case, including the victim, were dismissed for committing offences discrediting honour and dignity of a police officer.
