In Austria preparing dogs to detect the smell of patients with COVID-19

In Austria are training dogs to detect by smell carriers of coronavirus infection. This was July 19 , informed the website of the Ministry of defence of the country.

The project is called “COVID-19 Sniffer Dog” it is in the testing phase.

“In addition to the dogs that detect drugs, and dogs that detect munitions, in the future there will be dogs that detect coronavirus. The aim in future is to track the disease in people with coronary disease, even if those who are affected, there are no signs”, – is spoken in the message.

Tests with the participation of the Belgian shepherd dog spend in the military dog center in Kaisersteinbruch in the East of the country.

Defense Minister of Austria Claudia Tanner said that the test will show whether an integral part of the dog training center animal searches for people with COVID-19.

The defense Ministry noted that testing be completed at the end of July, and then begin the stage of assessment of results.
