IBU can change the calendar following the biathlon world Cup
The Secretary-General of the International biathlon Union (IBU) Nicklas Karlsson said that the schedule of the biathlon world Cup 2020/21 can be changed, if there is unfavorable situation with the pandemic coronavirus:
“We know that we will remain flexible to changes. You may need to change our plans in connection with the global situation in the field of health and decisions of the government in limiting a pandemic. But despite these uncertain times, we must look to the future and plan events as well.”
Coronavirus pandemic has reduced the world Cup season 2019/20 in March, when it was cancelled the final stage in Holmenkollen, Norway.
The upcoming season should begin on November 28-29 2020, in Finnish Kontiolahti. The world Cup in Slovenian Pokljuka will be held from 10 to 21 February 2021. And right after it will stage the world Cup on the Olympic track in 2022 Northwest of Beijing. But it is possible that these plans will have to be revised.
