Greta Thunberg received the award for humanity and €1 million
Swedish ecoactivity Greta Thunberg awarded the prize for humanity. The award in the amount of €1 million for the first time gave the Portuguese Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. About it reported the website of the Fund on July 20.
The prize was claimed 136 nominees (79 organizations and 57 individuals) from 46 countries, said the Fund. The majority of jury members voted for the award Thunberg.
“The Grand jury, consisting of internationally renowned personalities in the scientific, technological, political and cultural spheres, said the charismatic and inspirational side Thunberg and its message, can cause the opposite feelings, and his ability to make a difference in the fight against climate change”, says the statement of the Fund.
Thunberg wrote in the Twitter that it is a great honour to receive an award for humanity. She said in his post that will donate all prize money to support projects that fight for sustainable peace, protect the nature and support of the people.
