As reported by Le Parisien, the Paris court on June 29 Fillon sentenced to five years of imprisonment (three of which are suspended), a fine of €375 thousand, and forbade the ex-politician to hold public office for 10 years. His wife received a three-year suspended sentence.
The court ordered the spouses to compensate the state losses of around €1 million.
Fillon has announced its intention to appeal the decision.
