Facebook is considering to introduce a ban on placement of political advertising during the presidential election campaign in the United States, on 11 July, reports Bloomberg , citing sources.
The company has not made a final decision, there are fears that the ban of political advertising may limit the applicant’s ability to publicly respond to the latest news or new information, said the Agency.
This prohibition would be a significant change in the policy of Facebook. Earlier the administration of the social network refrained from verification of the facts stated in advertising, which, according to the American defenders, led to the spread of misinformation.
The ban could protect users from deceptive content, I believe in Facebook. However, human rights organizations criticized the plan for the social network. According to them the ban on political advertising does not stop inciting hatred and spreading misinformation, says Bloomberg.
The U.S. presidential election scheduled for 3 November. The main battle for the White house is between the candidates of the two major political forces of the States: the Democratic and Republican parties.
