In the Polish Sejm on 6 July sent a bill on amendments to the Constitution which proposes to legalize a ban on adoptions of minors by persons who are in same-sex relationships. The author of the document is the President Andrzej Duda, reports his press-service.
The President noted that the number of poles opposed the adoption of children by LGBT couples has always exceeded 70%, and according to some surveys, it was even more than 80%.
Also, the draft law proposes to consolidate the constitutional notion of marriage as the Union of a man and woman. Duda said he wants “to maintain a Polish family and Polish to protect children.”
According to the President, he did what he intended to do from the very beginning of his term. This happened between the first and second rounds of the presidential elections. In the first Duda got 43.5% of votes, the mayor of Warsaw for Rafal Trzaskowski voted of 30.46% of the voters.
The second round will take place on July 12.
