The son of the former first Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Nikita Khrushchev, Sergei Khrushchev died on 18 June in the USA in the 85th year of his life, told RBC granddaughter of former Soviet leader Nina Khrushchev.
She told me that Khrushchev died in Cranston (state of Rhode island).
The cause of death she did not elaborate.
A family friend of Khrushchev mark Harrison told REN TVthat Khrushchev died in tragic circumstances, but declined to give details.
Sergei Khrushchev was born in 1935 in Moscow. In 1958 he graduated from the Moscow energy Institute. Before emigrating worked to develop missiles and engineering – worked in the Union experimental design Bureau No. 52, Institute of electronic control machines in the scientific-production Association “Electronmash”.
In 1991, Khrushchev went to the USA to lecture about the cold war in one of the most prestigious American universities – Brown University and remained in America. In 1999, he became an American citizen. Together with his wife lived in Cranston.
Khrushchev wrote several books about his father, including “Khrushchev on Khrushchev”, “Pensioner Union values” and others.
