The candidate in presidents of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovski said that the authorities threatened the people of the Maidan. She said this during his address to the inhabitants of the country on the TV channel “Belarus 1”. Video published on the YouTube channel of the United civil party.

“We call on elections, and the government is calling on the Maidan. We say that we want a new President, and the government responds to us, then what will the Maidan. We say that the majority of Belarusians want to live in a free and rich country, and the government has threatened us with independence. Imagine that you want to from your home left a stranger… are You asking him to leave, and he tells you that if you kick him – he will use force. “Do you want independence?” asks power. No, don’t want to. And she doesn’t let it do. When this government will go, there will be no Maidan. It will be a holiday,” said Tikhanovski.

In his address, she also stressed that the current government “does not know how to govern so that the people lived, and not lived up to the salaries that young people wanted to stay in the country.”

The presidential elections scheduled for 9 August. The CEC registered five candidates. For the post of the head of state claimed by incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovski, co-Chairman of the Association “Tell the truth” Andrey Dmitriev, ex-Deputy Anna Konopacka and leader of the Belarusian social-democratic party Sergey Cerecer. One of the main opponents of Lukashenka – banker Victor Babariko was taken into custody June 18, a day before the deadline, which is given to collect signatures for the candidate. It was accused of financial crimes. Also, the CEC withdrew from the race diplomat Valery Tsepkalo.

In Belarus held a protest against the persecution of opposition politicians. The police detained their members and journalists.
