Chess go online. Carlsen organized a tournament with a prize pool of $250k

In connection with the pandemic coronavirus players are moving to online tournaments. The reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen from Norway has organized a new tournament.

Competitions with a prize Fund of 250 thousand dollars will be held in online mode from April 18 to may 3, 2020. The tournament will bring together eight leading chess players in the world. The exact composition is still unknown, but several GMS have already agreed.

Participants will play a round Robin of 7 rounds, then top four will make it to the semifinals. Losers in the semifinals will play for third place and the winners will contest the final of the main prize.
