“Better days will come.” Elizabeth II fifth years of the reign addressed the nation
The evening of 5 April, Queen Elizabeth II made a special televised address to residents of the UK and Commonwealth countries due to pandemic coronavirus. It is published in Facebook of the Royal family.
Elizabeth II thanked all who adhere to the recommendations of the authorities and remains at home, and praised those who help others.
“I talk to you in an extremely difficult time. A time when disruption of normal life of the country: for some it has turned into grief, for many, has fallen into financial difficulties, and enormous changes in the habitual way of life touched us all,” said 93-year-old Queen.
She expressed the hope that in the future “can be proud of how we have met these challenges”.
“And those who come after us will say that this generation of Britons is as strong as the others… traits Such as self-discipline, life-affirming quiet determination and compassion for one’s neighbor, are still the main in our country”, – said the Queen.
She said “painful feeling of separation from their families” due to social distancing, reminded her about the experiences of evacuated children during the Second world war.
“And now, as then, deep down, we know it’s right… We should be comforted by the fact that although we still have to endure a lot of difficulties, better days will return. We will be back with our friends, with our families, we will meet again”, she said.
