Annual session of the UN General Assembly may be held in online mode
The President of the UN General Assembly Tijani Muhammad-Gang appealed to member countries to hold the scheduled end of September the General Assembly session in online mode in pandemic coronavirus. About it reports “hvil Nemecka”.
The organizers offer to hold a session in the format of the presentation of pre-recorded performances without the personal involvement of leaders in the meeting.
“I guess that restrictions on international travel and hosting large-scale meetings with the participation of the leaders of the pandemic COVID-19 may in one way or another will still be operational in September 2020,” said Muhammad-Gang.
He noted that countries should send records of their speeches presidents, Prime Ministers or other representatives of a duration of no more than 15 minutes for five days prior to the start of the session.
To personally attend the session of the General Assembly will be able to two diplomats from each delegation.
The event has never been canceled since the UN was founded in 1945. Twice the meeting was postponed – this was due to the financial crisis of 1964 and the 2001 terrorist attacks.
This year’s session is scheduled for 22 – 29 September.
