23 Jul juvenile court of Hamburg sentenced to two years imprisonment 93-year-old Bruno DEA, he was accused of complicity 5322 murders in the Nazi concentration camp Stutthof during the Second world war, writes dpa.
Dei was a guard camp from August 1944 to April 1945. When he was 17 years old, so the Prosecutor submitted to the court, which hears juvenile delinquency.
The prosecution demanded a three-year real term; protection insisted on the justification of the former SS man.
Dei argued that not got to the front for health reasons, and to serve in the camp forced him to leave. In his closing speech at the trial he apologized to “anyone who survived the hell of madness, and in front of their relatives and descendants”.
Thirty-five of the survivors of Stutthof camp were among the applicants in the case of DEA, six of them appeared in court. They talked about the daily abuse and beatings, and killings of prisoners, deaths from starvation and typhus.
The applicants did not insist on severe punishment of the former security guard if he admits guilt before the victims of the Holocaust.
The investigative authorities in Germany are discussing another 14 criminal cases related to crimes in the death camps during the Second world war.
